2 Capacity Strategies for Group Classes, Shared Pool or Per-Location Limit?
In many booking systems, group class capacity is reduced to one seat limit. But a studio for 20 and an online stream for 50 have completely different constraints. Mavify offers two capacity strategies: shared pool and per-location limit.

Your studio holds 20 people and the online session 50. These are different limits. Mavify offers a shared pool or per-location limits for each class session. The 20 + 50 example requires Pro; Basic allows 10 participants in total per session.
How should hybrid class capacity be limited?
In a hybrid class, studio capacity need not match the online limit. Decide whether you want to limit the total group or each attendance mode separately.
A shared pool fits limits on your time, attention or a shared resource. Per-location limits fit separate constraints on the studio and online session. Neither model is best in every situation.
One limit for the whole session
A shared limit of 20 admits 20 people in total, in any available mix of studio and online attendance. Compared with separate limits of 20 + 50, it reduces total capacity from 70 to 20, but does not automatically eliminate every online booking. A shared limit of 70 alone does not protect a 20-person studio.
Separate services for attendance modes
Separate studio and online services can be a valid solution in other tools. In Mavify, you can combine these modes in one schedule and assign suitable limits instead of maintaining two listings.
Tracking places manually
Counting places manually in a spreadsheet requires updates after bookings and cancellations. Setting system limits lets availability be checked during booking. Available places can change before the client completes their booking.
Two strategies, because one limit does not fit every class model
Mavify offers two capacity strategies for group services available in more than one location (e.g., studio + online stream). You choose one when creating a service, matched to how your classes actually work. Important: if your service has only one location (e.g., studio only or online only), the capacity strategy doesn't matter, it simply works as a regular seat limit per session. Strategies become essential when you run hybrid classes.

Strategy 1: Shared Pool
One limit applies to a specific session and is shared across its locations. With a limit of 10, either a studio or online booking uses one place from that pool. It is not a shared limit across every session of the service.
A shared pool fits classes where total group size matters, such as a mentoring session for 6 people or a workshop with 10 material kits. The instructor arranges resources separately from the booking system.
Strategy 2: Per-Location Limit
Each location has its own limit for the session. On Pro, you can set 20 studio places and 50 online places: filling one location does not use the other’s pool. Basic also has a total limit of 10 participants, which can close bookings for both locations.
This model fits separate studio and online constraints, such as mats, chairs or the maximum remote group size. Limits of 20 + 50 or 15 + 40 are Pro examples. Online capacity also depends on the video tool and teaching format.
When to use which strategy?
Choose a shared pool when studio and online places use the same limited resource or instructor attention. For example, allow up to 8 participants in total regardless of attendance mode.
Choose per-location limits when you want separate control over studio and online attendance. A Pro example is 20 in the studio and 50 remotely. On Basic, account for the additional total limit of 10 per session.
Different prices for attendance modes
Attendance modes can have different costs. Suppose studio rental costs PLN 200 per hour and the stream’s cost is negligible in this example. You could set PLN 80 for studio attendance and PLN 45 online. These are example assumptions, not a guarantee about video tool costs.
Per-location pricing works with both strategies. The client sees the price for their selected attendance mode and session.
How to set up a capacity strategy, step by step
Choose a model for the constraints of each session:
1. Create a group service
Go to the services panel and add a new group service. Fill in the name, description, base price, just like any service.
2. Add locations
Assign locations: training studio + Zoom, gym + Google Meet, one on-site location and one remote. Each with optional price overrides.
3. Choose a capacity strategy
Add schedule locations and set a shared limit or a limit for each location. Basic allows 10 participants in total per session. Larger examples, such as 20 studio and 50 online places, require Pro.
4. Done, the system enforces limits
Review the strategy, locations, prices and limits, then save. For later changes, review the effect on existing bookings. The client selects an attendance mode and sees availability for that session.

Example scenarios
Hybrid yoga on Pro: 15 studio places and 40 online, with separate limits. If the instructor wants a smaller total group, a shared pool may fit better.
Hybrid workshop: 10 material kits and a shared pool of 10 participants. For example, 6 attend in the studio and 4 online. The instructor arranges the materials; Mavify controls booking capacity for the session.
Bootcamp on Pro: 20 studio places and 50 online, for up to 70 participants per session. Example prices: PLN 80 in the studio and PLN 45 online. One service, locations in the same schedule, separate limits.
Capacity isn't the only thing that changes
A future group service version can use different limits, a different strategy and new prices. Changes must pass validation, especially if bookings already exist. See service versioning and availability versioning.
Who is this for?
For group instructors matching capacity to a studio, stream or total group size. With only one location in a session, both strategies reduce to its capacity limit.
One service, on-site + online location, full control
Choose the model matching your class constraints. Both strategies are available in every plan, but Basic allows 10 participants in total per session. Larger groups require Pro. See pricing.
